Glenn Medeiros may not have had a long career in the music industry, but his contribution to the romantic ballads of the 1980s remains unforgettable. His heartfelt rendition of “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You” became an international sensation, etching his name into pop music history.

A Young Star is Born

Born on June 24, 1970, in Hawaii, Glenn’s musical journey began in his childhood. His father, a tour bus driver, introduced him to singing for tourists, while his mother nurtured his love for music. By 1986, his talent shone when he won a local radio talent contest, performing George Benson’s 1984 song, “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You.”

A Song That Touched Millions

A chance encounter with a radio executive from Phoenix, Arizona catapulted his career. The executive brought Glenn’s rendition back to his station, where it quickly spread across airwaves. By 1987, the song was a worldwide hit, topping UK charts for four weeks and making its mark on the Billboard Hot 100.

His youthful charm and romantic vocals won the hearts of listeners globally. The song’s success led to Spanish-language versions tailored for Spain and Latin America, further cementing Glenn’s international appeal.

A Brief Yet Impactful Career

Glenn’s career saw several milestones, including:
🎵 1988 – A duet with French singer Elsa Lunghini, “Un Roman d’Amitié,” which topped French charts for three weeks.
🎵 1989 – His song “Under Any Moon” was featured in The Karate Kid Part III soundtrack.
🎵 1990 – His only U.S. #1 hit, “She Ain’t Worth It,” with Bobby Brown.
🎵 1991 – He recorded “If Looks Could Kill,” the theme song for the action film of the same name.
🎵 1992 – Collaborated with Thomas Anders of Modern Talking on “Standing Alone.”

Despite these successes, Glenn never replicated the massive impact of “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You.” By the mid-’90s, he left the music industry, disillusioned by the darker side of the business.

A New Calling: Education

Glenn transitioned into education, inspired by his childhood teacher. He married Tammy Armstrong, and together they have two children. After years of teaching, he became the Principal of St. Louis Catholic School in Hawaii in 2015 and was later promoted to President in 2017.

Today, Glenn still performs occasionally, sharing his music with tourists while leading a fulfilling life dedicated to family and education.
