Beverley Sheehan, sister of the legendary Judith Durham, tearfully reflected on her sister’s final moments and the last words she shared with her before her passing. With a heavy heart, Beverley spoke about how Judith, despite her pain and illness, remained filled with grace and love until the very end.
“I was with her in those last days,” Beverley shared, her voice trembling with emotion. “Judith was always so strong, so full of light, but in those moments, she was at peace. She looked at me and whispered, ‘I love you, and I am so thankful for everything.’ She told me how blessed she felt to have lived such a beautiful life, surrounded by love and music. She was grateful for our family and the joy we shared. Even as we faced the inevitable, she had this calm, this serenity that made it easier for all of us.”
Beverley continued, fighting back tears, “She was my big sister, my best friend. We shared so much. And in those final moments, I could see that her heart was at peace, knowing she had given the world so much love with her voice. She was always concerned about us, even in her last breath, making sure we were alright. That was Judith — always thinking of others, even when she was suffering.”
She paused, her voice softening, “I’ll miss her more than words can say. But I know that her spirit, her music, will live on forever. That’s her gift to the world — and to me.”
Beverley’s heartfelt words touched the hearts of many, offering a glimpse into the profound love shared between the two sisters and the lasting legacy of a woman whose kindness and extraordinary talent will never be forgotten.
